1. Warren, Amanda and I met with Christine from the Housing Registrar to have our Annual Review Meeting. It was a short meting, very short – which meant that everything went very well. It was highly pleasing. We were also told of several personnel changes that our in the process of occurring within the Office of the Registrar.
2. Prior to our meeting I spoke to 20 up and coming executive types at VWA as a part of their leadership program. I spoke for 50 minutes followed by 15 minutes of questions. My brief was to provide ‘a compelling personal story’ – which was probably playing to me strength. All seemed to go well and I rated myself 8 of 10. I was particularly happy with a sensory experience I took the participants thru.
Matt, I am keen to know more about the sensory experience you did.
The sensory I do, when I do it, is a piece when I ask people to take a little time to consider, with their eyes closed if they feel comfortable to do so, what their lives might look like in 12 months in a blue-sky kind of scenario. Having this place secured I ask them to consider that now things have not worked out so well and that they find themselves homeless and embarking on their first venture into the world of slum landlords and barbaric housing. When Reach assisted us with the breakfast last year Tom, the MC, took the audience thru an experience like this – using my material. This usually takes 5-7 minutes to do – always creates tears in a few people – is often referred to as one of more powerful experiences people have had – and it is something that I am developing with every occasion I now deliver it. I fear that it does not sound nearly as good in typing as it is in reality!!
Warren – I am keen to know if this was replied to you alone or everyone? Can someone please let me know?
