I would be very interested in hearing your reflections/comments on the Narrative launch last Friday – and especially who you talked to and their comments.
The comment above was said by a friend of one of us as she entered The Great Hall last Friday. A very interesting comment – and one which was a compliment.
Personally I thought it was a terrific evening – with little down side to it. Across both launches on Friday we received over $2700 in donations – and the money is still trickling in – alongside several new connections that were made and many more folks expressing their desire to be still more closely linked to us.
A BIG ‘thank you’ especially to Connie for her countless hours of planning, plotting, organizing and, ultimately, delivering the event so beautifully.
The launch of Narrative was a splendid event in every way – a big, diverse and influential crowd; good choreography; powerful speeches; excellent catering. A friend of mine who knew little about Servants, and who has attended many big corporate events, was most impressed. So was John Pesutto, and the CEO of Hawthorn Community Chest, to both of whom I spoke at length. A big thank you, and congratulations, to all involved. The book itself is very well presented, with stunning photography and some excellent writing (although somewhat uneven, as is inevitable with multiple student authors). I am confident that it will be very effective in persuading people that the model of social housing offered by Servants is one that should be supported and replicated, both of which are strategic objectives for us. As to growing up, I would say that we are on a continuing path of development, but there’s no doubt that the last few years have seen great advances. Donald
